The display on my 2000 Grand-am radio stopped working. The radio and cassette work fine. I replaced the radio but the display in the replacement also doesn't work...even though it was confirmed working prior to it being installed in my car.

Could there be a wiring issue with my car? Perhaps a fuse or relay or something? I doubt that the problem is with the radio itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a wire for the display, sometimes even a 5amp fuse back on top of the radio. There is also a lightness and darkness control, you need that turned up. I did not read your question quite right. There should be a fuse for the display. Read your owners manual and see where it says radio display. I have tried to look up your vehicle in a Chilton manual and I can not find the radio in the wiring diagrams section. It shows how to remove it, but no mention in the diagrams for wiring. Since you have had trouble with two radios and the same problem, I think you should ask at the car deal. Around here where I live I hahve been able to just walk in and talk to the service manager.

Radio Display

Sometimes the dimmer on your headlight switch will do this. If the switch is turned down too much or off, the display on the radio goes dim or off. This is the dimmer switch that also adjusts the brightness of your dash's instrument panel lights.

If not, check fuses.
