I asked a similar question last week, best answer: "I read for the blind and have several blind friends. One man has been blind from birth. He said he sees pictures but doesn't know how to describe this to a sighted person. He sees colors but doesn't know the names that would match up accordingly. So, if his "hands" can identify a dog... and he dreams about the animal, his brain may be able to form a picture for him, but... it cold be blue. He told me once he loves to dream. He has dreams of flying into space like an astronaut"

When one dreams, the whole things is seen in the brain. This is to say that although you use your eyes to see something but what you see is actually displayed in the brain. This is can be understood by the idea of day dream. When you day dream you are not using your eyes but you are seeing whatever you day dream about, in your brains.
Similarly if a person is blind he or she can still dream because the thing that such a person sees is viewed in the brain.

Yes, they are seeing. But they're seeing through the mind's eye which works totally opposite your normal eyesight. Much the same way you can close your eyes and bring back that wonderful time you had in the tropics, or with that someone special. I'm sure deaf people can also hear in their dreams. =)

Dreams involve the imagination, but the imagination is not powerful enough to create sights that never existed,or have never been seen.
So,i'm guessing if you never see,you never dream sights. :(
But,the recently blinded or those with impaired vision might be a diffrent story?
Edit:Uniques answer doesn't seem too un-realistic,and it's a comforting thought. :)

Yes, they have dreams. No, they are not seeing, because dreaming does not involve eyesight, it involves the mind. If you were seeing you would not be in a dream, you would be in the real world.
