With Germany lying in ruins after six devastating years of war, and with defeat imminent, Hitler decided to take his own life. Early on the morning on April 29, 1945, in a civil ceremony in his bunker, Hitler married his mistress of many years, Eva Braun. The next day at a little after 3:30 p.m., they bit into thin glass vials of cyanide. As he did so, Hitler also shot himself in the head with a 7.65 mm Walther pistol. The handful of remaining Nazi faithfuls trooped uneasily into his underground study, surveyed his still-warm remains-slouched on a couch, with blood trickling from the sagging lower jaw, and a gunshot wound in the right temple-and sniffed the bitter-almonds smell hanging in the air. Wrapped in a gray army blanket, he was carried up to the shell-blasted Chancellery garden. Gasoline was slopped over him in a reeking crater and ignited while his staff hurriedly saluted and backed down into the shelter

Adolf Hitler shot himself in the head with a pistol on April 30, 1945, shortly before the invading Soviet Army captured his bunker in Berlin.

It's pretty much common sense. After leading the greatest war the world has ever seen and being responsible for the deaths of millions and millions of people, from gypsies to Jews, how can anyone live with themself? Hitler committed suicide, along with his new wife. Only the devil would be able to live with himself after causing such mass destruction.

After taking cyanide, first tested on his dog Blondie, he shot himself through the right temple.

Apparently, he took a poison capsule and shot himself thru the mouth.

Hitler committed suicide

After intense street-to-street combat, when Soviet troops were spotted within a block or two of the Reich Chancellory in the city centre, Hitler committed suicide in the Führerbunker on April 30, 1945 by means of a self-delivered shot to the head (it is likely he simultaneously bit into a cyanide ampoule). Hitler's body and that of Eva Braun (his long-term mistress whom he had married the day before) were put in a bomb crater, partially burned with gasoline by Führerbunker aides and hastily buried in the Chancellory garden as Russian shells poured down and Red Army infantry continued to advance only two or three hundred metres away. He also killed his dog Blondi around the same time.

As history tells it he swallowed a cyanide pill with his long time love and girl friend Ava Braun. They both killed themselves together in the same bunker underground. Now had Hitler not been the raving genocidal lunatic he was it may have been romantic. But needless to say he deserved a far worse death and far more painful.

He tested some poison on his dog, took it himself, then killed himself (though the dog part i'm not too sure about, my teacher may have made that bit up... but then what can you expect from such evil people -Hitler, not my teacher).

He is said to have taken cyanide pills (which all Nazi officers carried in case they were caught), and shot himself upon the approach of the allied forces to Berlin. However, his body was never recovered.

everyone thinks he took a pill and died. No way. He was way to egotistical to kill himself. If you ask me he was chillin in the cut down in south america until died from natural causes. No one that powerful didnt have an escape route. They never found his body
