Do they really work? Do they take up to much space that they are worth?

My opinion... They just aren't really worth the money. Everyone I know either throw the diapers in a small bag and takes it out at night or they take them straight outside. Why spend the money on those refills, when you could use it to go towards diapers, toys, or other necessities for the baby???

We have used a diaper genie for over 10 years! We tried several other products, and none were as good at eliminating odor.

We have an 11 year old special needs child with a bowel dysfunction who must still use pull-ups, and we have kept the diaper genie all these years. Twice we have had parts broken and the diaper genie company has sent replacement parts free-of-charge.

I heartily recommend it!

We keep ours in the hall bathroom where it takes up about as much space as the bathroom waste basket. It works fine for us. It definitely confines odors and is more convenient than running diapers out to the trash bin everytime the baby needs changing. It only needs to be emptied twice a week (it's very easy to empty). I've also found it very easy to refil... simply take out the empty canister, drop in a new one and tie a knot.

I would recommend getting a diaper genie. It's been a helpful gadget the whole time we've had it.

My sister-in-law had one and loved it. I have a Diaper Dekor, which holds more, and I am extremely satisfied with it. You definitely need a pail of some sort, and these are both great ones.

Mine has a foot pedal that lifts the lid, so you just drop the diaper in without having to touch the pail at all. It has two flaps under the lid that seal the pail so you don't get any odor when you lift the lid. The refills are easy to put in, too.

I wouldn't use either the diaper genie or the other similar type devices.

Why don't you just buy some small plastic bags and wrap up your used diapers and put them in the outside garbage can. Keeping them inside the house just lends itself to making the place smell bad.

Good luck.

I've used one for all three kids and I find it really helps keep the odiferousness of poopy diapers at bay. It fits snugly into any corner of a room and really isn't that complicated. About the only thing I found was that, with our first baby, money was very tight and the refills were a midge pricey.

Most only take up as much space as an aveerage trash can; and yes, they do help quite a bit in terms of cutting down the odor and making it cleaner and neater to dispose of the diapers.

definately worth it! and check ebay or another discount souce to make it even more cost efficient. doesn't take up anymore space than a small trash can and will come in handy when baby becomes toddler and is pitty-patting around, the genie is much harder to get into than an open trashcan

i didn't like the diaper genie. too inconvenient. supposed to keep odors out but didn't, cause when you are supposed to dump it out, it reeks! will not use it again, garbage (with diapers in plastic grocery bags) are just the same!
