mafia style wedding?

I am very much into old mafia movies and i want my wedding to be mafia themed....not stupid but something real nice. kind of the time period type clothing. I was wondering does anyone have any ideas such as colors or what kind of music. please no dumb *** answers

You gown should be something that's from the 20's. Something vintage, but it doesn't have to actually be antique. Try replicas.

The maids should be in likewise "flapper" gowns. See links above.
All the women should have a short hair style, or if you have long, then pin it up. Hats, furs, long pearl necklaces, stockings, were seen on most every woman under the age of 50.

The groom and groomsmen should be in pinstripe zoot suits or other period suits. Tailcoat and cutaways were the popular style tuxedos. Top hats, spats, white gloves, and white scarves were big too. Browse around tuxedo stores for styles and ideas.

You should be in white, the men in black, and your maids in whatever you want. Try styles with plenty of glitz, like rhinestone buckles or sequins. Flashy was the key then.

You music could be jazz, blues, swing, or big band. Depending on what you and your fiance like best. I would stick with the big band stuff and swing for fun dancing, lighter on the jazz and blues. You can go for the Godfather type mafia theme wedding, here in Vegas there is a chapel in town that does a Gangster Wedding set in the 40's. You can take a look at their site for an idea it's pretty cool. And follow the wedding with a reception with red and white checkered tables and italian food, wine and music. Also some vintage style of suits and dress from the 40's can be found on Ebay.

I think what you're describing is more an old Hollywood glamour feel to it, right? But if you do want to toss in the Italian influences of rich food, lively music, and family out the wazzoo (yes, I'm part Italian, so I can say that LOL) then by all means add that. Fortunately, that style of dress is making a comeback big time, so finding dresses for your bridesmaids should be no problem--and they'll probably really like them too! Have them men wear tuxedos, simple single breasted with a satin lapel, and simple black bow ties. VERY classic looking. Depending on the time of year, I'd probably do reds and blacks, that can be very striking. Hope this helps you...good luck with wedding planning.

Get a huge custom made silk purse for the $$$$ gifts that you will be getting.

Buy a showy glamorous wedding dress from Italy.

Carry a rosary and Holy Bible with your wedding bouquet.

Make sure you have a 14 course meal. That proves that the extravaganza is an elaborate professional one!

Oh, and rent a couple of "fake" security guards.

Put the men in black tuxedos and white shirts. Make sure the women are over-dressed, lots of jewelry [bling-bling] for the younger generation] over the the top make-up on the women--and black limosines.

Oh yeah...big hair on the women and slicked back hair for the men, especially if they have dark hair.

Footnote: Rent the Goodfather,....there was a wedding scene it in. Of course you will want to buy dresses that are in style now, but you will be able to get the "feeling." Be prepared to spend a lot of money if you really want to pull this off and get the full effect.

I've been to a few. A normal person would have never known it was mafia. They are just great big huge Italian weddings. Great food and homemade wine!

Most Mafia weddings are normally Italian weddings. Now we are talking about the true Mafia people! So I would check to see what Italians do and how they dress for their weddings. Oh more thing, Mafia don't give gifts, they give money only. Think about that for your wedding.

Please realize the MAFIA originally known as the Black Hand are murderers, thieves and goons that live off the back of hard working people and give Italians (as myself) a bad name.

If you want a wedding that is old traditional Italian with the food, the feel of close family and the look seek out Italian caterers that are traditional for help.
