Yeah, I don't really care for spotlight that much either. I still go to the finder and hit Cmd + F to find files, but i'm getting more used to spotlight, especially it's integration in open and save dialog boxes.

What kind of problems were you having? I would suggest calling Apple support, or bringing it to a store that works on Macs (Apple Store, CompUSA).

Spotlight doesn t work like it "should" work (on Yosemite.....and probably also on El Capitan which I haven t used yet). The whole idea of using Spotlight is: TO FIND THE "PATH" TO WHATEVER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.......not merely show you that it exists "somewhere" within your system. Most of the time I already know that "such & such" exists within my system but I need to know "THE PATH" TO THAT FILE, FOLDER OR WHATEVER......!!! Spotlight no longer shows the path (it used to - on OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard it did).
