The scab always heals that way cos it's usually the thinnest part to heal. The wound is normally shallower at the edges, therefore it heals quicker.

The scab forms over the area where the skin is damaged or missing. The old skin around the edges, is what makes the new skin cells, therefore it grows from outer edges (good skin) to the center.

The healing is taking place UNDER the scab from the bottom and sides of the injury. The smaller the injury gets from healing the smaller the scab gets.

the outside is the driest part... the easier part that heals- the inner bit is where you hurt yourself- that's where the new skin is generating to close the wound- takes a while longer sunshine
