Proposal and the buying of an engagement ring is no guarantee that the guy's ready; very often he does that just to keep his lady happy. He's not ready until he's named the day without duress and has the financial side of it all sorted, etc. Some men are just never ready!!

If a guy proposes, then he's ready. Now just an out of the blue "hey let's get married", but an actually proposal that you know he took a lot of time planning out. If he planned it, it means you mean so much to him that he wanted to make it special. In other words, he's very much ready.
