Very interesting question. In those instances where I have found that my first impressions were mistaken, it was a result of my first impression being a casual observation, rather than a careful assessment of a situation.
This has even been true with my instincts, which seems contradictory, but isn't. I have always been able to assess situations very quickly because I make a point of seeing and hearing as much as I possibly can. In other words, I pay attention, LOL.

Yes, many times.
Still, first impression is really important in the society. People can either respect or look down at us because they don't like our appearance, speech or attitude.
I have met some people who at first impressions are very nice and warm, turn out to be as cold as ice. Also, Some people who are quiet and unassuming turn out to be very helpful and warm up to me after awhile.
