does your coven or group ever do thing that make you uncomfortable and does your family or elders ever look down on you for not doing them?
in the roedan or rede they aren't supposed to harm...but in my opnion what they are asking/ demanding is harmful to me and the other they asked. My mom said that she did it and i know i did it a few times when I was younger but now being older i think it may have been inapproate. I don't go anymore because of it and i've given up the belief completely. my parents are always mad or upset about it. my feeling is that this coven my family follows is a cult--A cult by definition is a group of people who blindly follow one leader.
Our high priest is followed without question and some of the things i have been asked to do are illegal in my state. So how should i approach this with my wiccan family?

sweetheart ... this does not sound like wiccan to me
and although i am not of the wiccan faith , i know enough from friends who are
and no one should be told/asked to do anything that is against their wishes or harmful to them
i am actually quite worried now as to what it is you are being asked to do
this does sound like a cult to me and they are covering it by calling it wiccan ... wiccan is a peaceful religion that respects everyone
i do hope to see those of the wiccan faith back up my claims here
please get help to get out of this
love to you xx

If you feel what is being asked is harmful it is time to leave the coven. There are no absolute rulers in Wicca nor do any of them have the right to ask you to do harm. It is perfectly acceptable to continue to practice Wicca without a coven. If you feel that your "parents" follow the leader without question(something I doubt but I suppose there are those who are power hungry) it is time to address those concerns with your parents directly.
While you never stated exactly what it was they asked you to do, I want to point out NO Legitimate Coven requires anything of it's members that is of a sexual nature or is dangerous/illegal, if yours does it is time to report them to the police.(The reason I said that is it is the only thing I could think of that might be "illegal" in your state...there are people that say they practice Wicca but it isn't anything but a scam.)

Bright Blessings

Rule #1: If you're not comfortable with it, don't do it.
Rule #2: See rule #1.

I've seen plenty of covens where the HP/HPS is followed blindly, even on non-Wiccan matters. IMNSHO, that's a very bad thing.

There's a number of things in the Wiccan Mysteries that might be unsettling - but what you've described sounds like it might fall outside of that. Your own safety comes first.

All religions are cults, it sounds as though youve been influenced by christian peers, Jesus called christians sheep for a reason because sheep are dumb and easy to control, whould you rather be a sheep, a dumb animal or a goat which can think for itself and make choices that a sheep whould be too sheepish to consider think about it, dont be part of the herd and always question authority even when nobody else is.

also i whould be a fool to believe everything i read, i have a feeling youre lying about your family to get sympathy from strangers, if thats the case then you really are pathetic.

Any other family you can move in with?

How about going into a coven meet as nemesis incarnate.

Or just take a different branch of paganism more suiting to you.

After all, you might be a chaote if you ask wiccans to define the word harm.

Hail Eris.

I would definitely discuss this with your parents and your Priest. Perhaps some time away from the Coven would be good. You could get to know others in your pagan community. I would not turn my back on my deities because of this---I would ask their guidance instead. Good luck and best wishes.

the one thing i have learnt is if your uncomfortable with something u should not have to do it. i think it is a great shame you have given it up all together because of it. may i suggest that if u r uncomfortable with the whole coven thing why not be a lone wicca i have been since i started the religion. i read up on it all the time and the one thing kate west books say is question everything and if u feel uncomfortable with it is it wise to care on

blessed be

I think that you have a lot of spiritual darkness in you, and it has nothign to do with wicca, I know christians are the most hateful intolerant people Ive ever met and that is what you are becoming, i have no love for christians and how they endlessly attack Pagans, if you want to turn against your family i whouldnt blame them for being upset, in the bible it says Jesus will cause division and hatred in the family, and christianity is evil because they beleive serial killers and pedophiles go to heaven while decent people that were not christian go to hell,

Wiccans/Pagans/ and the likes don't do anything harmful...if they do, they are going against the Rede....so a Search and you will find many answers.
Blessed Be.
