This time it's out of PURE CURIOSTY!! Don't worry. For those who saw my rude questions before, let me say now I will not pass judgement this time... so, anyway, my question is: do Atheists say things like, "Oh my God, what's wrong?" I mean, after all, they don't believe in there being a God; do they still mention him that way though? In everyday language?

Thank you for answers... I truly am just curious this time. : )

Tom-- I am a strong Christian and would appreciate it if you didn't say things that have to do with fiction when it comes to God, thank you. Start sticking to your beliefs and letting others with different beliefs live! Remember the quote "live and let live" please! Thanks.

Ludd, could you be quiet and learn a little respect first? You have absolutely no right insulting Atheists just because they are of different religion. I did the same mistake in the past, but I have actually realized that and said sorry for it. Period.

Well I personally try to use the phrase Oh my gosh instead, but at times slip. I do believe in a higher power just not the god of the Bible. I don't put God on a human scale or believe that God is there watching us all the time. But if an Atheists does use that phrase then most of the time I feel it is just a phrase, like oh really, or hey neat or whatever. Sometimes the Habit of doing something just stays with you and you always do it out of just plain habit.
Tell us what words you use out of habit. Are they always Christian in origin? Don't think that Atheists are bad for using phrases our of habit, after all I say oh dam all the time but don't mean the word dam, get it? And if they don't believe in god then why should the use of the word, that is in the dictionary, and used in other ways also not be used by them?
I am not passing judgment just answering the question.
Thanks

Yes, of course. I try not to because sometimes I remember that it's really not a good idea to toss around words other people feel so strongly about, but I don't even think that when Christians say the words "Oh my God, what's wrong," they're really thinking, "Oh, I now turn for a moment to my almighty God and then back to you, what's wrong?"

That's why so many Christians that I've met justifiably complain that OMG is taking the Lord's name in vain: because it's a figure of speech.

I agree with Music Girl's answer. The entire Christian calendar is Pagan. Sunday was the sun's day. Monday was the moon's day. Tuesday was Tiw's day. Wednesday was Woden's (Odin) Day. Thursday was Thor's day. Friday was Freya's day. Saturday was Saturn's Day. Christmas was Sol Invictus/Saturnalia/Winter Solstice. Easter was Imbolc/Spring Solstice. Yet, Christians say those words all the time, without having (a knowing) belief in Pagan deities. I know atheists who tend to use "Oh my God", and "Jesus Christ" as interjections more than believers, for the sole purpose of irritating believers.

It's an expression. We hear that expression as a kid, perhaps our parents used it, and it is associated in our minds with exclamations of concern or worry or even joy. It's something we don't think about. It's like if I say gesundheit when someone sneezes. Does that mean that I'm German?

Sure, they're just words and are completely ingrained into our language. It would require an effort to change to another exclamation, and there's simply no reason to.

I've read books where the characters are of other religions, and "oh my goddess!" just sounds silly.

The terms "oh my god" and "jesus christ" have become nothing more than secularist venacular. They have no more meaning than using the word " sh it" when you hammer your thumb.
And that, thankfully, is one of the first signs that your mythology is headed for the ash-heap of history were it belongs.
You see, the better the education and the higher the intelligence, the less tolerance one has for such asinine nonsense...

There is no such thing as Atheism the belief that nothing exist, However they are Agnostic which means that they don't really know. Using the Lords name in vain is a sin that the devil uses in everyone especially non believers so that believers have trouble not using it. So that it is a stumbling block for us all.
