Most air purifiers are designed to combat allergy and asthma causing pollutants like pollen, pollution, and pet dander. They will filter out particulates as small as 0.3 microns and smaller.

The dog hair on the other hand is VERY VERY LARGE compared to what HEPA and electronic air purifiers are designed to handle.

That is a long winded way of saying: No, air purifiers are designed for a different purpose. Vacuum a lot instead.

The air purifiers work to some extent. If there is a lot of flying hair in the air, the purifier (depending on the type) Will need to be cleaned out often.

There are products - I never found one that really worked.

My method of control is, brushing the dog, vacuuming the house, brushing the dog, vacuuming the house, etc.

Good luck to you. But aren't the dogs worth it even with all that shedding?

The only 2 things you can do to minimize shedding are brush your dog everyday, and feed them a high quality food like Nutro. If you are worried about shedding still, maybe you should look into getting a hypoallergenic dog.

I get my dog groomed once a month and the groomer uses a shedding control shampoo. Also daily brushings, and changing their food can help as well.
I have a saint bernard who sheds ALOT, especially in the spring and in the fall.

I gave up and got a Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner so I can vacuum every day. Takes care of the hair and doubles as a cool dog toy.
