Genetics I guess...
My hair is brown...
My moustach is blond, my goatee is red, gray and black...all natural...

Other than being natural it could be he colors his hair but not his mustache. I use to color mens mustache when I was in hairstyling.

Someone forgot to dye their mustache or shave it!
It could very well be chromosomes (genetics) gone astray as well as hormonone issues!

My grampa still had pitch black hair into his 70's. But his stubble would be red & his sideburns would come in gray. Go figure!
