I was wonering at what age when you let your baby sleep on his tummy? My almost 4 month is put on his back when I put him in the crib, but when I wake up he is sleeping on his tummy. He sleeps better this way, so is it ok to just put him that way, so he sleeps good from the start? When I start him out on his back he gets mad! Thanks !!!!!!!!

SIDS is always a big concern until your baby is one year old. ALWAYS make sure there is only one thin blanket in his crib (dress him for cooler weather), no pillows, no one smokes in your house or ever around the baby (or even has it on their clothes) and prayer always helps. He gets on his tummy anyway. I probably would. Just take every other precaution you possibly can.

I think it is fine if the baby rolls over on the tummy. However i recommend that you don't have anything bulky in the crib please. I am very worried about SIDS. With my son i let my son sleep on me because i was so worried about SIDS. He slept on my chest till about 6 months then he started getting to long lol and heavy. then i would put him beside me in the bed. The reason that i had him on my chest and so close to me in my bed is because i was always able to check his breathing. Some babies like adults stop breathing while they are sleeping and then they start back. I guess i was overprotective with my son but i don't mind cause it was just to protect him. (and to protect me too lol cause if something happened to him i'd be insane) And i started letting him sleep by hiself when he was about 7-8 months.
I recommend that you always check his breathing even with all of the precautions that you take like make sure the baby isn't gassy, no bulky pillows, blankets etc.
I wish ya the best.G:-)od Luck

Well, I reckon if he wakes up that way anyway, then it isn't doing him any harm, and you may as well save the poor little mite the effort of wriggling onto his stomach. Animals in general (and yes, this includes babies) don't tend to do things that will endanger them (not in their natural behaviour anyway), so I would say that if he has reached the point where he CAN role over, then he's fine to be in that position.

At that age its okay for the baby to sleep on his stomach....especially since rolling over anyway. Just make sure there's nothing that will smother him.

my rule of thumb is that when they go to their tummy on their own, i would just let it go. if they can roll in their bed all by them selves, then if they were in any kind of distress, like not being able to breath from being on their tummy, they have the muscles and the cordination to move them selves

Once a baby can roll over on his own you can put him down however you want.

Obviously since he is rolling over, this applies to you.
