when people have been abused by a husband
and you a new neighbor and trying to be nice why do they not like nice? and why are they nasty and rude at times

I can understand why a person who has been abused, or in some kind of turmoil would be kind of nasty....but no, it isn't an excuse to be mean to somone innocent. Don't let a few mean people change how you deal with the world.

If you were the one abused, I'd doubt you were in the mood to be nice to anyone. It's a defense mechanism, I believe.

because they're hurt. some people don't know how to set those emotions aside and they end up lashing out at people who just want to help. the human psyche is a warped and strange thing. that's when you should ask God to give you patience and continue to be kind to them.
