I went about three weeks ago after some good thumbs up from friends about Cardiff. Got there on Tue and walked out into into the city centre and got the shock of my life. I travelled all the way from north ends of warwickshire (a good 2-2.5 hour drive) to see a ghost town at night! it was so dead I've seen livelier grave yards. I had a better time during the day just going round the shops. It were like a whole different place, I couldn't recognise it! It was so busy during the day yet dead at night!

Anyway it could be due to the fact that the students were off and others going away on hols. I know they got a Creations round the corner from the Hilton but that was shut as well. The bars were open but not lively. Literally a few tables occupied per bar. So we got out of there and decided to head further south down to Newquay and I tell you I had an awesome time.

The students should be back now and with them they'll surely bring back the week-day nightlife. Otherwise I've been told (when I got back unfortunately) that weekends are meant to be good. Ask around on the street. The very few people we met on the street were friendly and we had brief conversations with them. But if your on your own or your a small group of girls I wouldn't advise doing that for obvious reasons!

I hope you had/will have a better Tue night than what we did!

Yes it depends on what you like to do and how much you are prepared to spend. If it is a special occasion and you would like to go out for dinner I would suggest le Gallois http://www.legallois-ycymro.com/ but if it is just a night out pop down the Bay and enjoy few drinks and some lovely food at the BA Orient.
Tuesday is also cheap day cinema tickets at the UGC.
Have a look at the http://www.itchycardiff.co.uk/ site as they have quite few info, a bit annoying with the popups!!
