Prime minister john howard stated that muslim immigrants should assimilate into australian society and be a part of our way of life. As an australian woman i fully support our PM.

hmm...if he means go to the pub and go clubbing I disagree.
the prophet Muhammad said there will come a time, when holding onto Islam, will be like holding onto hot coal. People want muslims to leave their religion, they should not give in.

To start with let me say that I believe that you and your respondents (so far) have fallen into the trap that little johnnie has set.
His agenda in saying what he said is only to distract the gullible public away from the real issues that plague our counrty at the moment. They are the I.R laws, the sale of telstra,the petrol crisis and now you can add the proposal to sell off Medibank. Plus many more too numerous to list here, but I'm sure you get the idea.
The fact that he has made these statements at this point in time is an insult to ALL Australians what ever their beliefs. Don't be sucked into this Please. We have always been and should always remain a tolerant country and the sooner we get rid of this little weasel then the better off this country will be.

i would have to pose the question .. have you as an australian woman assimilated to the aboriginal way of life .. given that you are in their land ?
with respect please ... there are many cultures all over the world that do not belong to the area they reside and i dont feel that they should have to give up their own culture to " fit in "

The fact that JH has aligned himself with GW is what prevents me from agreeing with him.
What he's really saying is that they should try to blend in, and deny their true selves.
