I am assuming u will know how AIDS is tranferred and also that AIDS is caused by HIV virus, I am assuming u know it all.

HIV causes AIDS which means that a person is first infected by HIV then he/she develops AIDS

So I'll Explain - "How AIDS is caused?"

Once a white blood cell is infected, the human immune system tries to build up its stamina in order to fight the disease; however, it is during this first period that the HIV virus is able to replicate extensively. After this first period of time, the immune system brings the virus under control and levels off the dropping number of CD4 cells. This time period is when humans may live for long amounts of time without any outside effects or illness. Although the number of CD4 cells is now stable, the HIV virus continues to multiply and infect. This is called the asymptomatic stage of infection. By this time, the amount of CD4+ T cells being destroyed almost equal to the amount of viruses destroyed. This "full-scale war" between the two has roughly 10 billion virus particles being made and destroyed and roughly 1 billion CD4+ T cells being killed and replaced each day. This dynamic equilibrium lasts for about 10 years or so until the entire immune system collapses, and the beginning of the onset of AIDS. The cause of death can range from Tuberculosis to mold infections that affect the brain, liver, or intestines. (e.g.Cryptococcus meningitis, Toxoplasmosis brain abscesses, gastroenteritis etc.) to cancers caused by viruses.

The state in the end is called AIDS

By exposure to the HIV virus through exposure to body fluids that contain concentrated amounts of the virus...but this alone is not an indicator if AIDS. Many people have HIV and have not developed AIDS. AIDS occurs when the level of t3 cells is reduced in such a way that the body's immune system becomes ineffective in protecting the body for infection and conditions, such as various cancers that would otherwise remain latent. AIDS stands for autoimmune deficiency syndrome. Syndrome is used to refer to a condition that can affect numerous systems in different ways. In one person, they might manifest an increase in thrush or yeast infections...another person might have problems with cancer proliferating...Karpenski's sarcoma being one type. It might exacerbate periodontal disease and affect dental functioning. AIDS is a very complex condition. When it first came on the scene, it was a sure death sentence...the good news is that now people with HIV are getting adequate treatment that is preventing the destruction of the t3 cells and prolonging life in terms of duration and quality. There is no way to briefly describe AIDS. It affects many people and is worthwhile to take the time to study.

And if a person has AIDS and is HIV positive, they have the deadly disease

AIDS is transmitted through body fluids (such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid etc etc)

The simplest model is that T3 cells get depleted by the virus. This causes the immune system to collapse so that you get vulnerable to infectious diseases and to cancer.

It is slightly more complex than that. The immune systems response to the HIV virus may also play a role.

Either through unprotected sex with a person carrying the disease or more rarely through the open exchange of blood between an infected person such as an open wound.

And to the earlier answers, it does not discriminate between gay, straight or men and women, anyone can be infected.

Caused by an RNA virus that destroys lymphocytes and this results in diminution of the production of antibodies, which in turn makes a person suggestible to falling prey to any disease.
