I was reading an article about Steve Irwin "the Crocodile Hunter" and there's this sentence I just don't understand:
"Irwin's American wife Terri, Bindi and their son Bob, almost 3, returned late Monday from a trekking vacation in Tasmania to Australia Zoo, the wildlife park where the family lived at Beerwah in Queensland's southeast."

My question is, who's this Bindi person? The name isn't mentioned anywhere else in the article. Terri is Irwin's wife (or now a widow, I should say), and Bob is Irwin and Terri's almost-3-year-old son, right? Then where does this Bindi person come into the picture? Or is it even a person? I thought so but I could be wrong - after all, English is not my first language. I thought I can read English pretty well, but I just don't get this. Can anyone please explain what/who they are talking about?

So it's just a piece of bad writing? I want my time back - those agonizing 10 minutes wondering what went wrong with my English study! Just kidding ;P
It's kind of funny because the way that sentence was written, I wondered for a moment if Irwin had two wives, or if Terri was his ex-wife who dumped him for a woman named Bindi, with whom she adopted a boy named Bob :D
By the way I mean no disrespect for Steve Irwin; I'm just making fun of the article and whoever wrote it. It's sad when anyone dies untimely.

If I'm not mistaken, Bindi is their other child. They have 2 kids.

Bindi is their daughter....you can check this on Steve Irwin's website....Your English looks pretty good to me..or did someone else write out the question for you?

In a sentence like that, since Bindi is capitalized, and it is listed with the other two names, it is safe to think that it is another person's name.

Nothing wrong with being puzzled. Bindi is an implied second child whose gender and age had to be guessed - a poorly constructed sentence.
For the "correct" information, refer to others who have answered.

Unless mentioned before this sentence, the name should've been preceded by the word "daughter".

Your English is good and the fault for not understanding is not yours; it is that of the pseudo-journalist who wrote that atrocious sentence and his Editor for letting it slip in.
