It seems perfectly ok for Iraqis to kidnap people (civilians too) and murder them. BUT, if we did that, The Holy Terror Of Allah would reign down on us. And not from Iraqis, but from our own liberal media. Go figure.

I agree with you,it does seem like our guys have to watch every step before they can even fight back. Heaven knows NO civilians can be killedby the USA or we will be sentenced to death! It is WAR people...People are going to die. The guys thatraped that 14 year old and killed her family though...Thats different. NOONE should get away with that. Military/War or not. If USA is out patrolling, and they get fired upon though,we should be able to shoot back without clearing the area first for Civilians. If one dies,or several die,we should not be held accountable. There isn't time for that.

United State of America being fair during war. Yeah sure. What? U don't believe me?

Ok. I'll give some example on how fair the American was.

During WW II
Sure. America is the only country in the world that dare to wipe out all the Japanese using atomic bomb. And to prove they were fair enough, they dropped twice so that the Japanese will enjoy all the benefits from the radiations. Nice!

During Vietnam War
Again, the US show the world how fair they are. They said we (non American) should not develop or even opt to use chemical gases. They taught the world how cruel the Nazi to the people by using Mustard gas. But it is okay for them to use Orange agent to the Vietnamese since they were not American or European. And to be fair, the Orange agent is even worse than the Mustard. Cool...

During Iraqis freedom
They forced Japan to pay compensations to the victims of WWII. But since they are fair, it is considerable for them to rape and beat the prisoners of war. And yet, they still say, "We will invistigate these matter soon." 2003-2006, that is a very short period isn't it? And their fairness continues forever.

there is no such thing as playing far with regards to warfare, and anyone who says so, is an idiot. The problem is, we go to war to defend peoples freedoms and to show them the "Light of democracy". So what does that say when some of our troops rape women and children or shoot 60 civilians for no reason? It reflects badly on our society first and formost, as if that is something that we really needing to be damaged more(seeing as how we are the "morally" superior country). Its a double standard, we critize them for being cruel, so therefore to do the same, we lose all credibilty(or should I say what little is left!). At anyrate, be happy that we live in a country that our media can critize the governments actions, I mean, can you imagine if it was government ran, like in russia or china? We wouldn't know 90% of what was happening there if that was the case. If you dislike "Libral media" there is always fox news (thats my 1 jab of the day thank you goodnite!)

This is a good question.

it almost suggest a particular view that, the U.S should do things the way of Sadam, or the way they do it in the Third world.
or that the very mentality of savegery we send troops to die to oppose is the very mentality or ethos we should adopt.

We are a great country because we don't do the wrong thing.
This adminstration wants to redifine whats right and wrong but that is another question.

This question has many layers as well, as we rarely declare war. a real war i mean through congress ect ect. The argument that war is savage therefore it should be fought savegly is just on the surface not only problematic but will lead to far greater crimes of humanity.

War offical war is very rare, military action is diffrent
as is the role of the U.S in the world to overthrow governments.
Overthrow of governments under the table is a complete diffrent question which i would suggest is anything but fair or should i say following any rule of law observed. There have been acts that we have sponcered or promoted funded that we could agree upon are morally questionable if not reprehensible.

As for Radical Religous extrememist, they hate our freedoms, remember the president saying that?

so i ask you why would you hate the freedom of the press.
or the freedom of speech.
ok if you hate what their doing with it or want to limit freedom.
who do you think wants less freedom, according to the Presidents statement.

Terrorism is a real crisis, but there will be those who remain calm and clear headed, and there will be those who panic and
post questions like this and vote republican.

All countries have to play fair in wartimes, so also the US. Why did they go into Iraq in the first place. Was that fair play?
Of course Saddam is a crook, but he was helped to power by the US. And they let him be until he became a threat to their oil supply. Why did Graham Greene write his novel "The Ugly American"? Surely not because of the noble behaviour of American officials in other countries. When are Americans going to wonder if perhaps they are stimulating terrorism, instead of fighting it?

Partly because the USA claims the high moral ground for itself and partly because of its superpower-wealth-multicultural status it is indeed held to a higher standard than other countries.

But your second paragraph raises a different issue: terrorist and other non-state actors who commit "war crimes" are not bound by international law. They are criminals. The government that fails to stop them is itself in violation of international law, and that is true even if it is unable to stop them for political reasons -- the story of Lebanon.

Double standards are a fact of life.

But you err in supposing that the USA does not kidnap people. Rendition and seizure and transport to secret CIA prisons abroad and to Guantanamo are proven facts.

There is nothing wrong with what you call a "liberal media" criticizing the US Government. For one thing, the Government ignores them. For another, in the absence of the ACLU and the media, the USA would gradually become a police state. Terrorism and "clear and present danger" to the State have often been used as excuses to suspend habeas corpus, the free press, and the right to dissent. Bush's argument in his recent speech that dissent is akin to treason is itself a cynical slur upon the Constitution.

I agree...I dont know at which point we got all these anti-america americans in our country but I really wish they would just move to the countries they love to protect. If what we are doing is soooo wrong and Life in Iraq and Afghanistan was sooo great without us being there, then why dont you get the hell out this country with your whinny-*** rhetoric. Oh, its probably because you get shot when you have a sh**ty opinion in those countries. Go figure. We've bred the enemy within our own lines....the liberal american , the true terrorist!!

Ignore the idiots above dude...I know what you are trying to say. The US is the leader of the world. We must set an example. We can't condemn actions if we are doing them ourselves!! Besides, when you're on top.. the ones below are always envious.. Which is why they are constantly looking for a reason to put you down... or making up reasons.

Do you really believe any country plays fair during wartime? Hmm... Anyway, just think: the US is a country, those people you mention are guerillas. It seems obvious that they can't act the same way, now can they?
