You start with corn. Then you clean it, grind it, and sift it. Then you cook it and add a lot of butter and pepper.

This recipe serves two.
Ingredients:
1/4 tsp. salt
butter or margarine
saucepan
2 c. cold water
1/2 c. Jim Dandy Quick Grits
Steps:
1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a saucepan.
2. Slowly add grits, stirring constantly.
3. Cook and stir until mixture returns to a boil.
4. Add tsp & 1/2 of butter or margarine. (if preferred, butter can be added last (while still in the pot or set on the table to be added at consumer's discretion)
5. Reduce heat and cook, stirring, 5 to 6 more minutes, or until water is absorbed and mixture is at the consistency you'd like.
P.S. If you can find Jim Dandy Quick Grits, I would recommend them because they cook up more smoothly than Quaker's Quick Grits. If after a couple tries the grits turn out too sand-like, try adding a little more water next time.
If you have any more questions regarding grits - feel free to drop me a line.

Cheesy grits are a favorite at my house...make instant grits according to package directions, add cubed velveeta and let it melt then add garlic salt and cayenne pepper to taste.

Get a box of Quick Grits, follow instructions as to the amount of water to use, add butter, a little salt and pepper.
Sometimes we add white american cheese and tasso to it.
** just eat them when they are hot because once they get cool they don't taste good!
