To Aaubry 65355. First of all don't call me Anti American. I have American family and visit every year, as an ex British service men I have expirienced war and battle conditions and the last point I don't know what a liberal arts professor is and maybe you could contact me and we could discuss what Interpretive dance is. Seeing as you seem to know so much about it. You illustrate my point perfectly, whilst serving with American service people you cannot undermine there ability to get stuck in. But there is always a knob like you who thinks they are above everyone else.

To Bake.
Disgrace to the Uniform. You small minded idiot. Do you know where I have been, how many times I have served operationally? How long I served? What unit I was in?
My rank? How can you be so sure I am a disgrace to my uniform when you don't even know what uniform I have worn? You would think with the amount of service you have done, you would be slightly more world wisely. Idiot!!

Since America always sends the greatest amount of soldiers and equipment to any NATO "event" we will probably always make the most mistakes. The unfortunate accident you are referring to was a tragic accident. The Canadians called in close air support. The A10 warthogs that responded, while considered slow as far a jets go, recognizing a target at a few hundred miles per hour can't be easy. The cannon on an A10 is fired at a target but the High Explosive rounds land in an 80 meter oval. The 5 soldiers wounded are in stable condition in Germany. Again an extremely tragic accident. As far as being the best?? We are always there, always ready, always willing. That in itself would make us better than most.

The Americans have the most deadly toys, not the best armed forces. I have a father in law who served in WW2, he tells me the Americans were famous for being trigger happy then. I have relatives who are in the British Army today, they tell me that the Americans are considered more dangerous than the enemy. No one wants to work anywhere near them. They gave me 5 or 6 cases were troops had refused to be seconded to units under American command. They preferred to serve time in jail or be thrown out of the Army, serving with the Americans is just too dangerous.

These are real deaths that shouldn't be happening - the morons who dismiss these comments as anti-American posts from liberal arts students are beneath contempt. Man for man the Americans kill more friendly troops than any other army.

That was a very shamefull remark. These people are real people with real lives and families. Your thoughtless comment only perpetuates the mostly untrue stereotype of the uncaring American. As a Canadian I understand that sometimes mistakes like this are made. Even unfortunate events like this are no reason to become angry at ones neighbour. How would you have felt if you father, brother, husband or child had been killed and you had read your comment. I have much respect for the American military having made numerous trips to american army, navy and air force bases and met the wonderfull soldiers there. I would expect the same level of respect not only for our military but for human life.

Being involved in live combat, I think I can answer this one. It is not a matter of who is the better military force. Many factors are to be taken into consideration. Mistakes are made under severe stress. Most people would in many situations simply not fire a gun at another person. You freeze... If you do you are dead... Time to react to a perceived threat or target is not alot in fact most of the time it's about 2 seconds or less. Remeber it's not a video game, it's your life or fellow soldiers, or civilians, or the enemies... Make the choice, and hopefully it won't be an ally.

Well I must say as a Canadian, I don't know who has the "best" armed forces. But I do know this, that top American Pilots come to CFB Cold Lake in Canada to train every year, so I guess we are partly responsible for training them to bomb the wrong target. However if you read the whole story rather than being blinded by the first sentence. You would have found out that they were engaged in close quarters combat. Also pilots don't do indiscriminate airstrikes, they are called in from troops on the ground. So maybe a adrenaline hyped radio operator gave the wrong co-ordinates, and got himself and his mates killed. It is very unfortunate, but so is war....the price of freedom!!

Americans have turned into a big joke of an army I'm afraid. Like the rich kid at school with no brains just his wealth and silver spoon to rely on. If he done something wrong , his parents will buy him out of trouble.

Very crude analogy I agree, but that's how badly the Americans are behaving , with total disregard to others and human live, so long as "I'm alright Jack".

I used to admire American resolve, but over the past 6 years, have realised along with millions of others what kind of cowards they really are.

At least the Brits stand by their principles head on and the army training and discipline is a glowing example to their country, something we can truly be proud of, whether we agree with the Blair's decision to send them into combat or not.

Just wish our government didn't suck up to the American Dollar. Its embarrassing...we are better than that.

Theses days someone needs to tell the Americans who is what and what is a friend and who is an enemy. Soon enough there will be no friendly fire since no friends wil be left around. America under Bush is turning into a fascist military, corporately controlled state. Americans need to fall back on their past great presidents and heroes; like Dwight Eisenhower.

Unhappily, in every war where the American participated they have killed some allies by friendly fire (except when there where no allies, they killed their own troops).
History is full of examples. The USA should be a little more carefull whit bombing or shooting.

and they wonder why no one will go to war with them anymore.
i think most people beleave that the british armed forces are the world's best.
usa can't finish a war by them selves. korean war (just a truce), vietman (turn tail and ran, most to canada), iraq 2 bussy's revnege.
they can start s##t but never finish it. are they all cowards? or only run away when the going get's tuff???
