I am up in Oban for a few days in a couple of weeks, and wondered if anyone had any ideas of where to go.
I want to be able to watch the Premiership Matches in a pub where I won't get hounded out for being English (my partner is of Scottish heritage). Consume some good food, a few Real Ales, some Malt Whiskey, and generally a good time for me and the family!

You'll love it. For good food and ale try the following trail:
The Oban Inn - old black and white rusic pub in the centre of town. Good pub food upstairs.
The Lorn - worth searching for, just off Argyll square. has a horseshoe bar and live music - good beer
Good family restaurants - Piazza - Italian right on the pier. Worth booking at weekends. Also there is an eating place behind the best Fish and Chip Shop ' Oban Fish and Chips' Rick Stein recommended and does lots of other things besides chips. The best and family friendly is The Taj Mahal - just past the little cinema on George street.

For the footie you could go to The Cellar Bar which is next to The Regent Hotel down on the north pier. My husband is a Yorkshire man and that's where he goes. (20% of people in Argyll are english born so it isn't like Deliverance!). Also The Regent Hotel on Argyll square will have it on.

A nice scenic drive out of town ( 30 mins south) on the Isle of Seil / Easdale is the 'Trish and Truish' pub - beautiful location near a huge old bridge. Lovely local bar grub and local beers. Also on the same road another 3 miles on at Easedale there is The Oyster Brewry run by a Yorkshire bloke which makes its own real ale and has huge filled Yorkshire pudings. Lovely spot.

Worth driving out to Ganavan beach - sandy beach just 2 miles north on a little B road.

Unless you are immune to stunning scenery or an under 25 clubbing zombie you will love Oban and wish you'd stayed longer.

Good luck..... however, for one thing, there's virtually no 'real ale' as we English know it in Scotland and what there is is unlikely to make it out to Oban. However the 80 (and 90) Shillings is just about drinkable in keg form. I do remember one of the pubs in Tobermoray, Mull has a couple of hand pulled ales on, if you want to brave the crossing...BUT I think you seriously need to ditch the stipulation about Premiership football..... for God's sake, man, your partner is of Scottish heritage and you're going into the Scottish heartland and you want to be able to watch the pigging football. If I was her, I'd leave you....

Not much to do in oban. I went a few years ago & was bored stiff. There is only one nightclub & unless you are 16 you wont like it
