Sabrina: He is exposed at school and he is not trying to dislike anyone but he catches alot of slack from the Mexicans because he doesn't agree with the things they are doing. He says that he has not had a good experience with any of them at the school.

Jay Jay: I really don't think he is singleing out anyone. He is a good kid wants to befriend everyone but because he is 1/2 he catches it from the Mexicans only. The other races (all colors) all like him. He don't understand why someone who he had a connection to makes it so hard on him.

It would depend on why he doesn't like the Mexicans around him. If he's singling out a group of people because they act a certain way and doesn't agree with their actions then who cares he's just sticking to his principals and not trying to fit in just for the sake of fitting in.
If he doesn't like that group of people because they are Mexican because he assumes they act a certain a way without really knowing them, then that's more like racism.

I think it sounds kinda racist. I am half Mexican my self fourth generation. My Dad doesn't know spanish but my Grandma does. I personally don't like how the Mexicans are handeling the illegal situation. I think they are turning it into a race issue. When I see my European friends being deported I know that is not a race issue. Does that make me racist I don't think so. You don't have to agree with every thing your race does. I think that makes him an individual. Now what kind of Mexicans is he being exposed to? Because the mexican culture is very beautiful. He shouldn't cut that part out of his life it will be like killing half of himself. I think you should try to find classier Mexicans to expose him to I guess I really didn't get enough info from you to say.

It only shows that he has different values that separate him from his peers. He is neither better or worse than any other child that has pride in his own culture and is offended by a few idiots that make everyone else look bad in the eyes of White America.
However, that was the case with Malcolm X, The Young Lords and other groups that were ahead of their times... they were said to bring shame on their own ethnic groups because they were loud and boisterous... but today we recognize that they did "conform" to certain distorted values and they helped bring about social changes where minority members got respect, recognition and due rights! Example, a 45-year old Black WOMAN or Hispanic WOMAN was referred to as "girl" and no one thought anything of it... we were not allowed to even apply for certain unions or places of employment like Police Departments or to get an education in certain schools or colleges or universities... we were not proportionately represented in the media or even treated fairly by the media!
Careful what you denigrate... be sure it is a matter of moral values for law and order and not kissing up to another set of values over your own culture. I say this in the most sincere, charitable and diplomatic means I know how. Please do not feel offended.

I think it is good thing. He knows he is different. If he is trying to be friends with everyone than that is good. If the Mexicans are treating him badly because he does not agree with his opinions, it just goes to show how narrow minded they can be.

I agree with JD, your grandson is American through and through, and can tell when something is not right, those kids are not assimilated and are not raised they way he was, their manners and up bringing are not the same.
