have heard this from servers in restaurants at holiday or any special event time, and does it irritate you and make you not want to leave a tip....""server saying to guest": "oh i only need $50.00 more dollars and i wil have my kids' "cristmas"/"birthday"/"report card day"/ gifts paid for". reason i ask, is i hear it everywhere we go during holidays etc, from servers and if we happen to go several times before the "event" and see the same server, it is the same thing..."patron to server": how are you?", "server to patron": "shoo, i'm tired, working a lot, just have $50.00 to go til i have my kids's gifts paid for". is this what you want to hear when you go out to eat?

I would turn the tables on the rude waiter. Simply exclaim that you too are tired of working so hard to make extra money for your holiday gifts. Maybe, he'll get the hint!

No, that's not right!! I always tip the standard 15% or more if the service warrants it. I know how hard most servers work--but to be so blatant is just plain wrong!!

I haven't heard too much of this, but that would drive me NUTS! I swear. Just ignore those comments and ask for the bill. Haha.
