i think perhaps that buddhists have been generally peaceful. enlighten me.

Buddhists, Hindus and Taoists have been relatively peaceful and do not try to convert the world, but don't let the buddhists fool you, they have had internal battles with each other, but after all, they are human too.

the Celtic people were very warlike, fighting over land and hunting rights, but i have not heard of any time that the Celts started a war to spread their religion.
many new religions have started simply because people were looking for a religion that did not believe in killing to force people to become like them..and many more have simply embraced the idea.
look into Neo Paganism.
Wicca
Druidry
also the Native Americans did not fight wars over their religion,,,they had many things that they did fight about but not religion.....
anyone when attacked will defend themselves.

Not too many, if any, Eastern religions have gone on military campaigns.
Also, although it's not a religion, neither have atheism or agnosticism.

lol. Athiests battle with anyone who has an opinion on anything.
People all over the globe will commit acts of violence because they believe that their beliefs and only their beliefs are the correct ones.
