actually building muscles at a young age can stop you growing.
if you exercise outdoors, maybe basketball, and eat lots of dairy products and/or calcium+vitamin D supplements... you might just gain a couple of centimeters.
it's all down to the bone structure and how you develop it. furthermore, after a certain age (21) you stop growing.

If you loose weight you might grow taller beacause your bones won't support as much weight. But if you build up muscles they will pull your bones closer togheter and keep them more tight to one another and you won't grow in height anymore.

Well, I read somewhere that the average guy is finished growing vertically at like 23 or 25, I'm not sure. It may be 18 lol.

Height and weight are two totally different things. True, gravity has alot to do with the amount of mass something or someone has, but if you lost weight I don't think that it will have enough effect on your height for anyone to even notice.

as long as you're below 20 years old, your long bones still continue to grow but on minimal process, except for certain factors and disorders like acromegaly, dwarfism.
