total a**holes? My friend was married to one and he came home from deployment and said he didn't want to be married anymore...no reason given. She sees people he knew/knows and they are all pains in the a**. She tells me that all Navy Seals are full of themselves and only interested in how much a** they can get and how much liquor they can drink before passing out....

Anybody care to rebutt?

Think of it this way:

When talking about the special forces especially NAVY SEALS, you're talking about the best. You're talking about a bunch of guys with super egos and the Alpha Male personality that could fill a room. It's a way to keep the edge. These guys that are actually on tour will see and experience stuff that you and I could never understand. Being married for some of them gives them a weakness. Don't take it personally. I know many people in the special forces, all close friends of mine. All the ones I know are chill and nice deep down inside. Their exterior is just made of steel. They have a tough reputation to keep and there's always someone trying knock them off that pedestal. Families are hit hardest for the special forces. Health care corporations are trying to help military families deal with this problem as it is. If his insecurity blooms thru, then he's not man enough for her.

Oh, it's not just limited to SEALS.
Liquor is a way for these men to self medicate. Sex is a release especially for the single guys who have no emotional support. They see and do things that most of us are not able to handle nor do we want to imagine it.
Most in special operations are married and it rarely lasts. It takes a very special woman to be able to run a house by herself, raise the children and deal with her husband being in harm's way and not even always knowing where he's at.
Your friend's husband went away, saw a lot of bad stuff, probably had to do some things he never imagine and came home a different person. It's not uncommon- unfortunately.

"ALL" ? Are all muslims extremist? The fact that you use an over generalization rebutts your own question. You can never say all, and if you did, who in the world has met all Navy Seals? Well, having worked with some of them, they are indeed full of testoterone. But, it's good because the very reason they exist is based on agression. I do however feels sorry for your friend, but he is in a profession in which killing is common and natural and the very core of his career. He is taught to compress emotions and be brutal. So, it may be deeper than just being an "A**hole".

They go through some stuff, they bond, maybe they lose the bond with the people they leave at home. It happens to people in military, law enforcement, rescue...it's intense work and maybe they feel like other people don't understand them because they haven't shared their experiences. Not saying it's right, but maybe there are members of some professions with whom it is not wise to get involved because the job takes everything out of them, including the ability to treat civilians decently. Lousy deal, wouldn't wish it on anyone.

She was probably a shrew and got caught running around. Come on tell us the whole story. Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Waa I took this Navy Seal home and all he did was use my body and then never call.

The above are all suited however the significant thought you're lacking is that army group 6 is placed to tension as a final hotel / instant desire. The group is shaped and disbanded many, many circumstances with new contributors hand picked from the the different communities.

It's a sad day when our most elite units in the field, are so devoted to that level of insane unity, that the family does fall to second place...........I think they tell those poly wogs that that is a distinct possibility........somebody is keeping score. In their defense, what they do can only be done by a smaller number of units worldwide. The U.S. is not the only country that is proud of it's Special Operations teams..........but alas they report the same numbers as the U.S. study. In all, I can't forgo the fact that I too am a Viet-Nam veteran.....proud of my service. It just saddens me that my brothers are gaining that kind of reputation, their P.R. man is going to go nuts......LATER......

you got to understand that with a navy seal- thats his life. thats the only thing that matters to them- nothing else. imagine being married to the terminator. honor, courage, and commitment. thats a true navy seals mentality. its all about training and the next mission.

One: No, they aren't. we have a very good friend of his a retired SEAL, and is a very nice man.

Secondly: with regards to your friend.. her husband may have PTSD. The things that they are required to do leaves a toll on the body, mind and spirit.

Maybe he saw horrors that he feels affect who he is and doesn't want to inflict that upon her. Maybe he feels he is becoming something ugly and doesn't want her hurt. Maybe the SEALS drink, to drown out and forget for a moment the awful things they see.

All for us. So we can be free.
