Metaphorically speaking in biblical terms "fire" usually meant purification. As there is no redemption for the damned, it is most likely not metaphorical. Another sign of the fire being real is the story of the Lazarus and the richman. "in hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' " Luke 16:23-24

It's a metaphorical fire meant to torment and/or destroy the fictional concept known as a soul. All of this is part of the rhetoric that institutional religions have developed to keep the superstitious and the uneducated in their place as low as possible.

The fire of hell is a real fire.
It is many times hotter than fire on the Earth.
Whoever is placed in it, will burn physically.
We should all try to save ourselves from the fire of hell.

Heaven is also real and pleasure will be felt physically there as well.

Metaphorical. Let's reason: would a loving creator such as god send his sinful creation to a place of eternal torment because of the way they acted in their life? What about jesus mentioning the ressurection of both the righteous and the unrighteous? And: ALL those in their memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out? Hell is not a biblical teaching, it never was. Did jesus ever speak about it? And what is the book of revelation? A book of symbolism and prophecy. Its not real. Period.

Metaphorical. But I also don't believe 'hell' is a fire underground where Satan has a pointy tail and horns. I believe hell is being refused acceptance into God's grace, to suffer knowing that you'll never be granted entry to Heaven.

Metaphorical, hell is just suppose to be life without God and his love, so all that fire and eternal punishment stuff was just created as incentive against heresy

Depends. No-one on Earth really knows. I guess it could be both a metaphor for pain and agony, a sensation although I dont know if I believe you 'feel' in hell. But it could be exactly physical.. I guess you never know until you've been there

hell is a metaphorical fire. hell is a spiritual condition that is always temporary and was never meant as a punishment from G-d.

It is real. But it will not last for eternity. When everyone in the fire is destroyed, it will go out.

Remember Sodom was destroyed with eternal fire, is it still burning? Jude 1:7
