Me! The removal of my wisdom teeth was a relief! The pressure on the back of my jaw was killing me!

I'm sure that in certain cases narcotic pain killers were not needed after the extraction of a wisdom tooth. Sometimes the extractions are simple enough that over the counter pain relievers will do the trick just fine. Every case is different as is each persons pain tolerance level. As you didn't mention the nature and severity of your specific situation I can't give you any specific answers which would pertain just to your case. I have worked in the dental field as an oral surgery assistant for over 20 years and have pretty much seen it all. Some people are lucky and have simple extractions and require only over the counter pain relievers or sometimes higher doses of some medications such as Ibruprofen/Advil/Motrin and they seem to do just fine. While others are not so lucky and end up having some if not all their wisdom teeth be either full or partially boney impacted which requires much more work to remove them, a longer healing time and the need for narcotic pain relievers in order to keep them as comfortable as possible for the first couple of days or so. It really all depends upon the teeth, the Dr. and your unique situation. Every case is different. Every case has it's own blueprint. Good Luck!

Actually yes, if I see a few interesting or suspicious questions/answers from someone I'll check out their about me and sometimes even search through their activity and even check the name they've signed up with(which no one should be able to see but there's a trick to it lol). Yeah it's a little stalkerish but it's really helpful to recognize trolls and gain insight on people here. Like you're a Mean Angel, what does that mean anyway?

I went about 4 days before contacting my oral surgeon.

I had a dry socket and had to return for a follow up earlier than expected. He looked at me like I was crazy for not contacting him earlier. Great guy.

I'm sure karion and sweater girl have endured much more than i could even imagine. and pudintain too.

First time I had a wisdom tooth pulled, it did not hurt at all.
Second time it nearly killed me and I took a lot of pain pills.

Sure wasn't me. I took them like crazy. Why be in pain when they give you the prescription for them, like the other girl said, that would just be stupid!
