I'd look into gem dealers; while you certainly wouldn't want a whole tablet made from a gemstone, they might know where you can find something similar in a mineral.

Best thing for writing on them is a Dremel.

From a stonemason, at a stone works. Or you could find a really flat rock! Or one of those marble cutting boards. Art supply shops?
