By any means of transportation, the distance is the same, mate.

One of the ways is by boat. There is a special "Macau Ferry Terminal" (there's one in Kowloon and one on Hong Kong Island), which has a hydro-foil or jet-foil boat, with seating inside that is almost like an airplane. The boat is fast - it looks like it is on waterskis at full speed. It normally takes just under and hour by jetfoil. They used to have a slower, bigger boat which had slot machinese, but I think that they don't have that anymore. Jetfoil boats depart about every 15 minutes. But don't forget your passport... immigration and customs are right in the terminal. And the cost is about 200 Hong Kong dollars.

You can also go by helicopter, if you have the funds and you are in a rush. I think it was about ten thousand Hong Kong dollars, but you would need to check on that at the heli-port.

There are cheaper ways... swimming for example. Or stowing away...

However you get there, Macau is really not a huge island. And if you are going for the gambling, the casinos are normally really crowded (Chinese love to gamble). May lady luck smile upon you!
