It is entirely impossible for a species to be propagated from 1 male and 1 female. The resultant inbreeding would have caused retardation in only a few generations. They wouldn't even have known how to breed after a couple more generations.
Even today, with professional help, most species are doomed if they have 20 or less individuals.

Adam and Eve is a fairy tale, a metaphor illustrating the fact that we come from common ancestors.
We came from the same place all other life on earth came from: single-celled organisms that evolved into various species and eventually, to homo sapiens. It amuses me that some people still think this is even up for debate.

Adam was created first, then Eve was created from the rib of Adam.
After they were placed on earth, they procreated.
Their offspring were born in pigeon pairs i.e. they had twins who were one male child and one female child.
The female offspring from the first set of twins married the male offspring from the second set of twins.
The male from the first set of twins married the female from the second set of twins.
That was how their family grew.
The story of Cane and Abel: Cain wanted to marry his own twin sister (the twin who was born at the same time as him). She was supposed to marry Abel. When Abel's sacrifice was accepted by God, Cain Murdered Abel.

If all the people in the world are Adam and Eve's children, that means the world as we know it is based upon incest. I don't think it started from 2 people. The things are much more complicated.

There is a genetic link is to one female, but that could mean a family. There is no way to trace the male link at this time. I have an opinion that when Cain killed his brother Abel, he married Neanderthals, but I really don't have anything to back that up.
