Entry into the Indian Police Service
Eligibility
Age: 30 years
Qualification: Graduation
To join the prestigeous Indian Police Service one has to appear in the Combined Civil Service Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission every year. The advertisements for this Examination are given out in major national dailies and are also available at Employment Exchanges. The candidates thus selected will be allotted to Indian Police Service as per the merit. The allotment of Cadres is made by the Union Government.
Officers of State Police Services also get promoted to the Indian Police Service according to the rules prescribed by HP Government and ratification by the Union Public Service Commission.

Depending on where you live the frequent (but not always) educational requirement is 2 years of college. It doesn't matter what kind of courses you take. It's the higher 'level' of education they want to see. You can take 2 years of general education requirements with electives in anything you want, and never take a single class having to do with law enforcement, etc. That doesn't matter.
Law enforcement agencies want smart, qualified people, whether they have a background in law enforcement or anything else.... raw intelligence and the benefits of any formal education can be transferable to the basic skills of good police work too.

Any course is good as long as it will serve the community in nature then you proceed to apply for the higher level of training in the Government.
But to be more specific, go to the Police Academy.

Check your local police first but...
Take the civil service test, get into the police academy. While that is happening take criminal justice but also computer classes at college.

Go to the police academy most TX colleges will give credit for it, and you could work towards a degree in criminology, forensics, etc
