Everytime I installed Windows XP Pro and Home, the space in my Drive C: get lesser. How do I prevent from getting low spaces? I installed the Windows ME, it doesn't take up my space. Windows ME can be instaled in DOS but why Windows XP cannot installed in DOS? Is there anyway to get through it? I need a best answer please. Thanks.

What I did was put the disk in at the beginning and have win xp upgrade or fix the problems that you might have on your system. You should find out where the other instillations are on your hard drive. Make backup's just in case, but when I installed win xp it gave me an option of deleting the old windows and that should give you more space. Sometimes when you restart your computer it will start with msdos if you have it set up that way in you setup. You can have your computer run from your cd drive or dvd drive, whatever you have. Let us know if there is anything else that we could help you with. Thanks. Rock.

Hello, reboot your PC and during the POST (Power On Self Test) Press DEL key or one of the function keys on top of your keyboard. (depends on your Motherboard) you should now get access to your BIOS, (Basic Input Output System) look in the options and set the CD ROM drive as the 1st boot device. then place the WIN XP CD in the drive and let the PC complete the reboot. as the pc is rebooting it should ask "to boot from CD press any key now" press a key on keyboard. The screen should go blue and a message should say "Setup is now configuring your hardware" or similar I don't remember the exact wording.Once you agree to the terms and conditions by pressing F8, the installation will say that a previous installation has been detected and would you like to go to the recovery console, choose to install a fresh install. then you will see a list of hard drives and partitions, if format the primary or boot partition of your hard disk by following the instructions. you can also delete all or some of your partitions on your hard disk. then the installation routine will format your hard disk or its primary partition and copythe installation files to your harddisk. It will then reboot and this time you will see a graphical user interface where you are asked to input options and that should be it. If you do not have a bootable WIN XP disk (some OEMS like HP etc give you the non bootable ones) then you can make boot disk using floppies or cds but you will need a working computer and an Internet connection. I hope it helps. if you get stuck and have Internet connection just google the bits you don't understand or you can send me an email.
good luck

XP doesn't support DOS. How many times are you installing XP Pro and Home? If you are reinstalling Windows it keeps your old version just in case. So if you are doing it six times, it is keeping six previous versions on your C Drive.

Try formatting the hard Disk completely and than install Windows buddy.

It can install on a hard disk which is more than 2 Gb.... Do you have partitions on ur hard drive?

I would again suggest u to format it completely and than go for clean install.

I wish that solves ur issue. Good Luck.

Sounds like u need a bigger hard drive. WinXP takes more hard drive space than ME. HD's are cheap now.
