People hate the French simply because they refused to go to war in Iraq with us. Personally, I don't hate them for that. As a country they have the right to choose not to go to war. And it was a government decision, not necessarily what all the people wanted. Someone I know went to a wine tasting here in Germany. There were lots of French people there who offered their support to the American War and some even said they wished their government had sent troops to Iraq.

Good question. Do many Americans know that so much French money supported the Revolution that it almost bankrupted France?

A friend disagrees with you. You say, 'okay, no problem.' You get over it. Still friends, right?

Somehow, that idea is lost on a lot of people...

The people of France gave the Statue to the people of the United States over one hundred years ago in recognition of the friendship established during the American Revolution. Over the years, the Statue of Liberty has grown to include freedom and democracy as well as this international friendship.

Because we have freed the french from German (Nazi) occupation in 2 world wars! Hundreds of thousands of American soldiers have died to free France and all of Europe from German & nazi tyrrany, and when we went to Afghanastan and Iraq, they were against us and criticized us for our actions. When there in trouble the USA is the first country they call upon. But they are the first to ridicule the USA for its actions!
