my girlfriend speaks in tongues and has for years... when she was a christian she was seen as `special` by her peers.... Now she loves God without scripture and against Xtianity but retains her ability..... therefore closeness to God is NOT just for followers of the prophet J.C.......??

The gift of tongues isn't special,it's for all believers. Your girlfriend, having given her life to Jesus, is a christian whether or not she acknowledges it, so why shouldn't she still have the gift? There is no problem here.

I dont understand your 2nd sentence - now she loves God without scripture and against christianity... Do you mean she loves God, but doesn't read the bible and doesn't follow the church/pope? If she loves God, He can give her the gift of tongues. If she has never read the bible and has always been against the church then I don't think she has the gift. Only the Holy Spirit can give us this gift. Speaking in tongues doesn't mean talking a couple of ancient languages at once and talking fast. The true gift of tongues from the Holy Spirit means a person can all of a sudden speak and comprehend the languages that are spoke around the world. I have a friend that only spoke English while growing up. When he was about 50 yrs old he could speak spanish, greek, hebrew, chinese, japanese, portugese and others. He was seen by 3 priests, 2 bishops and 4 psychologists about this. They all tested him. He could speak the languages fluently and could understand what he said. He is said to have the gift of tongues by the church.

You don't have to believe in Jesus to speak in Tongues.....I have spoken in Tongues and interpreted 18 years now. I deny Jesus.....now and proclaim Jacob.....What is Tongues then If Christians kicked me out of Fellowship for Divorce.? The modern Church is a Financial institution that God has dis owned.

Nothing to worry about. It sounds like your girlfriend is looking for a closer relationship to God than the churches she knows of can offer. Pray that she meets other believers of like mind. Our God is a God of relationships. By ourselves we can go adrift, but with heart friendships with other believers, we keep each other on course. There is a relationship with God that goes beyond Scripture, but Scripture itself is still useful as God can reveal things to us through it. For instance, the Gospels remind us of what Jesus was like, and the Epistles are guidance to churches that had gone a bit wonky (especially Corinthians and Galatians). The important thing is that the Authority of The Holy Spirit must have a place above the rule of man.

Does your girlfriend speak to people in other languages? The whole 3 times speaking in tongues is used it is used to speak to people of OTHER languages. Not a babbling voice which means nothing.

Why has she turned away from JC?
The bible says the gifts of God are without repentance. Basically God doesn't take the ability away even if she turns away from Jesus Christ.
There are many examples in the bible of people turning away from God, and still retaining their gifts. Most people know about Samson, but there are others.
God loves all, and wants everyone close to him, that includes both you and your girlfriend.

Tongues is a gift from God...also it is the evidence that the Holy spirit is dwelling in you....God being a good God doesnt take away his gifts just because we choose to believe in something else or believe a different way....but then again who knows if it is the spirit of God....the Devil himself can speak in tongues....it is up to us to be able to tell the difference..

First of all Jesus said he was God, he is not a prophet according to GOD. He is with GOD , and Jesus says he existed before Abraham - . Which would be an impossiblility unless you are God. Jesus says he is the alpha and omega -
He is called the "King of Kings and Lord of Lords"(and many other references which point to God -not prophethood)
Not a Mere prophet - the Jews did not practice killing of prophets. Jesus supposedly commited "blasphemy" by "claiming he was GOD" The jews understood that Jesus was clearly claiming to be God. that is MAINLY why the Jewish priests sought to kill him. Because blasphemy is a sin in Jewish law and punishable by death or something. Not because he claimed to be a mere prophet, that was not against the law.
SO if your girlfriend Has a Love for this God of hers then she couldnt possibly love the GOD of the Bible (Jesus). My God, the God of the Bible is Jesus Christ, son of the Living God, born of a Virgin Died and rose again..
And that means that she is worshipping another god which is not of the bible and condemmend by God and Called Idolotry - setting up a different god than that of the Bible. God clearly condemns this practice by saying if you do not partake in Jesus who God sent then you will be separated from god for all eternity.

Well, the bible illustrates that God has given himself to us in three forms (trinity). There is God-the father , God-the son, and God's Holy Spirit. The bible also tells us that the spirit helps us in our time of weakness when we don't know how to pray with grunts and groans too deep for utterance. It is my personal belief that anyone is capable of speaking in tounges,however, baptism of the Holy Spirit must occur first. That is, believing that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. Secondly you must confess your belief. Once you have done this you are saved.-JOHN 3:16
Once saved you must invite the Holy Spirit to dwell within your heart. Then pray for the ability to speak in tounges. Once you recieve this ability it is your "prayer language " between you and God. It should only be done in your private prayer time unless you have a message for someone. Then it should be followed by interpretation that is in alignment with God's word.

If she claims to speak in tongues, get it tape recorded. Then find several people from DIFFERENT churches, all of whom claim to have the gift of translation. Get each one of them to translate it. It it's true, ALL translations should be the same. If they're all different, you've just found yourself a bunch of charlatans.
