you can sue him for the cost if you can prove you have an agreement of the two weeks plus if he is not a legal he will be charged and fined... try small claims court.. follow him and record everything you see... have you paid him yet? if yes too bad if no then don't pay and get him out of the house and find a competent contractor to finish the job...

What do you mean "attempting to sue"; is he or isn't he? If he needs some money for his clinical expenditures, i do not imagine it really is a huge wonder. you need to attempt asking him outright "how a lot money will make you pass away"? If it type of feels unreasonable or you won't be able to arrive at an settlement, basically allow you resources vendors coverage take care of each and every thing. via ways, even as the refrigerator slipped did it get damaged? if so, he ought to owe you some thing for that.

In California an unlicensed contractor has no standing in court. The State has consistantly denied payment to unlicensed contractors.

You can try but I don't like your chances. The law will probably say you should have gone for someone licenced - hence the whole licencing idea. But yeah, if you've got the money, give it a go! Just be aware that if it all goes pear shaped and you lose you'll have to pay court costs for yourself and possbily for him too if they claim defamation..

I can't believe you hired a contractor without a contract, but sure you can sue him.

Make sure he knows, he'll get in a lot of trouble operating without a license.

Also, in the future, make sure your workers are licensed and insured.

call the better business bureau report him call the bar association in your state and ask for a lawyer in your area in our state when you do this you get a free consultation by going through the state bar. or you could follow him home and mess with his mind by honking your horn or get some really big guys to strong arm him or take him to small claims court

Not licensed means he's not required to follow any specific set of rules. You kind of screwed yourself by working without a contract.

depend on what state you are on, because on some states verbal contracts are valid.

or you could still sue at a family court on TV.
