A hang glider depends on lift and air drafts, for you to get high enough to go across the UK would mean you would have to start higher than any point in the UK, and I don't think you would have the proper lifts from the air currents across the continent, not to mention the altitude you would need to be at you would have to have oxygen also.

I really don't think it's possible

Probably so, as almost any person with enough nerve, Physical well being, and coordination can fly one. I had a friend (a Rail Road Train Engineer) that used to fly H.G.s and Powered Ultralights. He met his Maker one late Summer afternoon when a Wing Spar Support cable snapped. He was 57 years old.The 1000+ foot fall didn't kill him but the sudden stop in that rice field did him in! This isn't a joke or BS story.

I heard a guy crossed the English channel on one once, he had to be towed by balloon up to a height of 1 mile to do it, so to go around the UK I give a rough estimation of a tow height of approximately ......100 - 120 miles ......erm you might want to reconsider, or maybe go for a micro-light

Go for it. The worst that can happen is...well, umm, you die or something. BUt who cares about death try it anyway. Seriously, I would say no! Because there is no director to yell cut!! It's not a crazy idea because people so it all the time.

What's the worst that could happen--you would fail. If you never try that would be worse.
