I have thick coarse curly hair and have no idea what to do with my daughter's fine soft thin hair. I can't get pony tails to stay in her hair, the holders all fall out very soon after I put them in. Same with barettes and headbands. What kind of holders might stay in her hair all day while she is at school?

really at this stage...the most you can do is head bans....with the child Bobbi pins...stuck near the ear to hold the head ban in...and sometimes a little moose or styling gel...very little will give grip to the hair Barrett's

Use hairspray in her hair while it is still damp then blowdry it and style it into place... then use more hairspray to finish it after it has been styled. I used to have the same problem when I was in fourth grade and I remember packing a small hairbrush to school when I was little. If my hair got out of control, i'd just wet the hairbrush a little bit, then re-do my hair and I guess the water kinda re-activated the hairspray.

You might want to think about using a different kind of elastic band to keep the hair in place also, and maybe a texturizing creme in her hair after its been washed. Or maybe simply getting a haircut that can be worn down in a more simple fashion. Good luck!

Have you tried using actual rubber bands? They still sell them with the hair accessories and come in pretty colors. I know that everyone claims they're bad for your hair because they pull too much, but if you have really fine hair they're the only kind of elastic that will actually hold a ponytail. These are the only kind my mom used on me when I was little and my hair survived just fine! As for barrettes, they make tiny ones with teeth especially for babies and really young girls who almost always have extremely fine hair. If those don't work on your daughter, then you're probably out of luck.

Well now they make pony tail holders with grip. So it thin hair won't fall out. You can get it at wal-mart. You can always try braiding it. If her hair is long enough.
