well sara, i'm a minister, i don't stomp on the bible, i use it to preach, reprove, rebuke, and exhort. the pulpit isour desk, its a thing we take as a sacred duty, i don't always pound a pulpit not unless i'm really goin. and then i usually tap it with my fingertip, i usually don't yell, but i do on occasion when the holyghost is really movin through me. its not always on purpose, i do it cause i get so pumped up.. there is no greater thrill on planet earth than preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and him crucified. here is a list of biblical doctrine, and when you start teaching about these things boy can you get on fire
* The Authorized Version of the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God. (Ps. 119; Mat. 4:4; Lk. 24:27)
* There is one God, eternally co-existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (I Jn.5:7)
* In the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin Birth, in His Sinless Life, in His Miracles, in His Vicarious and atoning Death, in His Bodily Resurrection, in His Ascension to the Right Hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this Earth in Power and Glory to rule a thousand years.(Jn.1:1-4;Eph.2:13-18;Rev.Chpts.19-20)
* In the Blessed Hope--the Rapture of the Church at Christ's Coming.(I Thess.4:13-18)
* The only means of being cleansed from sin is through Repentance and Faith in the Precious Blood of Christ.(Rom.5:1;Eph.2:8-9,13-18)
* Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal Salvation.(Jn.3:5-8;Titus 3:5)
* The Redemptive Work of Christ on the Cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.(Ex.15:25-26;James 5:14-15;I Pet.2:24)
* The Baptism with the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to Believers who ask for it.(Acts 2:4;10:44-46;19:1-7)
* In the Sanctifying Power of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.(Rom.6:3-14;8:1-2,11)
* In the Resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to Everlasting Life and the other to everlasting damnation.(Rev.20:5-6,11-15)

No. They aren't violent. Depends on the denomination they are affliated with, usually. Many pastors do NOT pound the pulpit or holler. I agree with what someone else said on here, they are trying to emphasize the message they are bringing.
I never saw a preacher actually 'stomp' on a bible before. Do you mean with their feet? If so, how rude to do that to God's word.

My, my, my. I have not seen anyone stomp on the Bible. Some are passionate about the Word of God and excited about the message they deliver. Some are so worked up that it spills forth from them in a physical manner. Some do all the extra because the people expect it and accept the Word when it is delivered in that style. They do not want to miss anyone by not delivering.
Haven't you ever been so worked up and excited about something that you pounded on something, yelled out or jumped up? I sure have. For many, that is a natural reaction. that includes preachers. Amen!

Gosh .. lmao .. I almost wish this question didn't make so much sense .. lol .. unfortunately it does .. I guess they are just infected with contagious St Paul schizophrenic zeal .. So sad , because the world would be so much better if people were encouraged to search for and reach their own truths ...
I guess unitarians and Quakers can be a bit mellower .. but there is an obvious percentage that are as you here describe ... Why the vehemence of the capitals horseysue? .. it doesn't come across as "spirit" , but more as martial agression ... And then it becomes a demonstrative "histrionic" by which "followers" think they are demonstrating their zeal to one another .. very much a group "schizophrenia" in that aspect ..

Some are, though thankfully not often. I was assaulted once by a preacher with a Bible trying to "exorcise" me. I took his book from him and tossed it into traffic.
You may be mistaking "violence" with "enthusiasm". It's how they get their followers into a frenzy of excitement and chase away the evils of critical thinking.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY ARE VIOLENT--THEY ARE EMPHATICALLY TRYING TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON WHAT THEY ARE SAYING.
