For communciating with ur own people,the mothertongue is necessary..but for studies the govt make it as one of the subject in the curriculam..But the world need a language which can all people can communicate(Globalization).in the priliminary studies the mother tongue language will be a subject..but after coming out from the school level or college level..the company needs a person who have a good communication skills in English.
so try to get fitness in English now onwards.

Learning mother tongue is very much essential. But it should not be comulsory for studies. We should learn mother tongue language for communicating and understanding purposes. It should never be compulsory to study.
