My pup is spoiled. He sleeps wherever he wants. At night he starts out sleeping under my bed. However, in the morning I wake up and he's practically pushing me off the bed!
I do recommend crate training. It's their own personal space and they should feel comfortable enough to fall asleep in them.
Big beds could be good too. Just don't get the foam ones because they tend to chew those up.
Remember, in the end you really don't want a spoiled dog because they are a pain to deal with.

I crated mine as well when they were young. Roxie, my 4 year-old boxer mix will usually sleep on the floor next to my bed on a quilt or blanket I have laid there for her (we have hard wood floors). Pogo, our 7 year old shepherd mix will usually sleep on his own on anything cushy he can find. Sometimes it is my couch (which he is not allowed). I have put down a big comfy sleeping bag off in a corner since and he will use that often. I imagine both of mine would use pet beds if I bought them.

They started out in crates, then they got their own room and a pet gate. Their crates were left open as a choice and they had dog beds. The big dog chose one of the dog beds and the little dog chose the big dog's crate! Later, I left the gate open, as the big dog drove me crazy panting when it was up, eventually. Big dog chose sleeping on hardwood floor by my bed---or so it appears. She's there when I go to sleep and when I get up, sly thing, but she sleeps on the sofa when I am asleep. The little dog, appears to stay in his room, but now sleeps on the bed the big dog vacated. Sometimes, he starts out on my rug at the end of my bed, but I always find him in his room, later. (The cats already had my bed. No room for dogs!)

My Golden Retriever (Teddy) sleeps on the very nice leather sofa down stairs...he's an old man and doesn't like the stairs.
He loves the leather sofa because it keeps him warm
My other dog is a Cane Corsos (Little Baby) and he's a very big baby - only a year old and bigger than my retriever...he weighs about 95 pounds already. When Teddy gets on the sofa he cries...and finally comes upstairs and gets on the bed with me.
I usually push his big butt off the bed - so - he waits for me to fall asleep and he gets back on the bed with me.
I always wake up in the morning with him snoring next to me.

My dog sleeps anywhere. During the day, he sleeps in the kennel. When I get home, he sleeps on the couch. At night, he sleeps on the bed. He sleeps in the car, on the floor, outside in the sunshine, in the boat, on the dock. He used to have a nice doggy bed to sleep on, and he'd occasionally sleep on it, but it got chewed up and destroyed. He sleeps pretty much anywhere, because he's a big lazy dog.

My two dogs sleep with me. I have a three year old Maltese named Bella. She has slept in my bed every night since i got her as a puppy. She goes everywhere with me. We recently got our second english staffy ( our other one Ned, died a couple of months ago due to illness ). Our new furbaby is Billy. He also sleeps in the bed. He's nine weeks old. I've never done crating. Never had to. Neither dog has gone to the toilet in the bed. They have a routine of a trip outside to do their business before bed time and first thing in the morning i take them outside to the toilet. This has worked for me with every dog i have had. When Billy gets old enough for sleeping outside he will be. We have a three seater lounge in our BBQ area that will be his bed. If it's a cold night, he will be inside on the bed with me.

Molly has a big dog bed next to our bed she sleeps in, but sometimes she decides to sleep in the living room on the couch or in a chair. I prefer to have her in the bedroom with us so I can hear her. She does love her bed though.

My 2 Shih-tzus sleep up on the bed with us most of the night, sometimes they get too hot and sleep on the floor. My labX sleeps in a big fluffy pillow bed next to my side of the bed; she used to sleep on the bed buy my bf is a restless sleeper and she used to get kicked off during the night. so now she's happy sleeping in her own bed.

DON'T take Rylee's crate away from her.
Dogs feel crates are their den's and find great comfort in them. They like their crates that's why they still go in them even though you leave the crates open. It is your puppies own "room". They sell cushions for the crates if you feel like spoiling your puppy.

We allow our dog Max to sleep with us (spoiled dog, bad owners:). He has a big pillow bed, and takes naps on it, but never sleeps overnight on it. Mostly in bed with us or on the carpeted floor in the living room.
