Be optimistic, network, volunteer so you can meet others, go to free career/job seminars,
stay away from negative people, go the extra mile, give more than others expect, etc.
Go on informational interviews where you ask people for job/career advice. Find older mentors in the field/fields you might like to go into.
Read the book "Think & Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, "The Magic of Thinking Big" by David J. Schwartz & other motivational stuff.

i understand your situation. well, actually, i was in that same situation before. it was very difficult for me to live because of our financial problems and also because of some family problems. the only thing that i did in order for me to get out of that situation was being strong. i faced all my problems and i made them as my motivations. i studied hard although i didn't have money to buy books nor to make my projects and worst i didn't have money for my fare. it was the darkest chapter of my life. however, i just concentrated on my studies and finally i graduated with flying colors. now, i've been working for 1 year and 3 months and this is my 3rd job because i transferred from 1 company to another. on this 3rd job of mine, i've been working for just nearly 4 months but i was already promoted on my 2nd month. i was able to buy my car and i'm still supporting my 2 younger brothers with their studies in the university. i can say that i am about to achieve success. i owe these all to my problems before... had not been to those obstacles i would not be the person i am right now. i think those problems developed my personality.
the bottom line here is that you should not be taken away by your problems, instead those problems should be taken away by you. motivate yourself. be strong. behind those dark clouds, the sun is still shining...
good luck! you can do it!

First of all you need to stop using your family's economic situation as an excuse. If you put in enough hard work with schooling (which you can do by free grants), and set yourself a goal and settle for nothing less, you'll get there.
I speak from experience. I grew up very poor. We had to build our own house, went to the neighbors for running water before our well was put in and my mother cooked dinner over the fireplace. Until you've eaten racoon, that you had to lewer in the yard and then kill, you aren't poor honey. My parents put all their money into our education. Lucky for them almost all of us received college scholarships. Our determination to have better is what drove us to get where we are today. Looking back, I'm grateful for the way I was brought up. Without it, I wouldn't have worked as hard as I did. I'm now a mother and although my children could have everything, they don't. I make them work for it and earn it.
You are bound to fall on hard times throughout life and you could let them get you down. But if you keep your eye on the goal you set, the only one who can stop you from reaching it, is you.
