Being born in a Christian country...... No! Just like being born in a hospital doesn't make you a doctor.
Having Christian parents......No! God doesn't have grand children, only sons and daughters.
Believing that Jesus is God's son, that He died and rose again for our sin. No!.....Satan KNOWS this to be true.
Being a good person...... No! our righteousness is like filthy rags to God. No matter how good we are it will never be good enough.
Doing pennance for our sins......No! Our salvation is a free gift it is "not of works lest any man should boast."
So what? Believe that Jesus is God, that He died on the cross to pay for our sin, that He rose again, confess our need of Him and that we are sinners, repent from our sin, ask for forgivness. That is it.

If you believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God, you are a Christian. There are going to be people here who come up with all sorts of answers, like being "saved" and so forth, but belief in Christ makes you a Christian. Period. That's what "Christian" means.

A Christian, by definition, is anyone who believes and follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, hence the name Christians.
But, there are Many, More than Many to be exact, that claim to be Christian but only do so in name and not in action. For Jesus said Judge not, lest you be Judged. How many, especially on this forum have you encountered who do not follow this teaching?
None of us, as the definition I explained at the begining of this answer, can truly consider ourselves Christians. If you do not believe me, then re-read the New Testement and for EACH and EVERY lesson Jesus teaches of how to attain the Kingdom of Heaven, and ask yourself this simple question; "Do I HONESTLY follow that example?" You would be surprised that you do in fact fall very short.
In my opinion, the only person who can truly, honestly be called a Christian is Jesus himself. As for the rest of us, we are merely followers of Christianity.

well everyone has said it.. it is the Belief that Jesus is our lord and savior. and a person that does their best to follow his teachings. its not one or the other, its both the belief and the way of life
and i just read what the girl wrote ahead of me... sigh. She says some christians (plural) when the one who did her wrong is ONE PERSON! ..why do people do that? She is right in the fact that Christians (unlike some) do not sit in judgement of others.. it is not our job. But respect of others faiths tends to make me think that you have to accept the others beliefs which i will never do. I believe in only One God. Respect the individual. Not necessarly their beliefs For example i have no respect for Buddha because i do not believe he exists.

Everything you said.. but.... It is important to know the difference between saying one is a Christian and actually being one.. many people say all the right things and act all the right ways.. and still are lost... It comes from a faith from the heart.. not the head... It is something that is felt... and many people think.. I am doing good.. I am a Christian.. but then.. when god wants them to walk a hard path then they are not committed to that.. they walk away when it gets hard... Jesus is real and you have to know it in your heart... :)

This is beacause Christians believe that God sent His Son, Jesus, to pay for the sins of humans when He died on the cross. People who believe in this message of salvation and accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour are called Christians.
