There's this guy at work who has thee worst breath I have ever smelled..and he has always had it. You can smell it down the hall..what's worse, is that you know he's been there, before you get around the corner..and you don't want to know what it's like getting into the same elevator as him....He works in a different department than I do but, No one seems to want to tell him, not even his supervisor....(yet people talk about it behind closed doors)...other than bluntly telling him..how can we make him take the hint?

This sounds like perpetually ignored dental hygiene and mints will not be enough. Of course you can always keep a box of the kinds of gum on your desk that help to clean your teeth and offer him some, but it sounds like someone should really just tell him. There's "I ate onions today" bad breath, and then there's "my teeth are about to fall out of my head" bad breath, and this sounds like the latter. Whoever at your workplace gets along best with the guy should just tell him that his breath smells of tooth decay, and people are worried. Dental infection can spread and become a much worse problem later. He probably has NO idea it's as bad as it is. With luck, he'll be embarrassed that it's noticeable, but the fact that people are concerned for his health will make up for it.Whoever has this talk may want to research things like affordable dental care in your area, in case finances are the reason for his neglected teeth. Good luck!

1. Practice flicking those "paper footballs"
(if you don't know what these are, ask any guy)
2. Have some mints handy(try those small Altoids-very discreet)
3. When he starts talking, flick an Altoid into his mouth...
Presto, better breath and peace in the office!

I worked with one like this, it was just awful. We tried leaving gum and mints on his desk, but that didn't work. We finally typed a polite memo, asking him to see his dentist, because of his breath. We were not mean about it, but it needed to be done. About 2 weeks later, he had to hand out some papers, so he walked and talked among many of us. After he left, we all looked at each other, and pretty much said at the same time, "Can you believe it, no odor today". Good Luck.

I agree with cute me. Just leave a nice anonymous note letting him know of some brands of mints that he might need to try.

I know its hard to tell him about that thing but I think someone needs to tell him about it before all the people in every department knows that he have a problem like that.Try to help him in a simple way.

I think friend had the best solution. A nicely worded note encouraging him to see a dentist.

you can give him the hint by getting a bunch of people with gas masks on to hold him down, and throw a box of tic-tacs in his mouth rigged to some c4 and let it blow!!!!!!

Be honest with him. Some people can appreciate it. I know if it was me, I'd want somebody to tell me!
