Hi,
To believe or not to believe... that is a question that has troubled many societies and individuals over the centuries.
From what I understand, the Bible is a collection of stories written by supporters of Christ over a fairly long time. This collection of stories has been added to for quite some time after Christs death as well which only highlights the doubts of the validity of the Bible.
The guy who actually commissioned the first Bible was a roman emperor who had the authority to pick and choose which chapters were to be included in the Bible so, it's a good bet some extremely relevant chapters have been left out while some other less relevant chapters have been included... it all depended on the whim and opinion of the roman emperor.
Quite frankly, without Christ re-appearing and being able to hold a world wide press conference, there is no way of telling if everything or even one little thing in the Bible is correct. There are those that believe in the literal word of the Bible and those who take the Bible with a grain of salt... it's just up to the individual to interpret the language as they see fit.
Unfortunately, as humans have a limitless capacity for individual interpretation, this has led to the many 'religions' and cults that are claiming they are the authority on the Bible and God's word.

I personally do not feel that the bible is very credible. I feel it was written by many men with the concept if we come up with enough stuff to keep these people scared, they will behave better. Hence: Satan and Hell. The God that I know is loving and kind. If we screw up that he why we have reincarnation, so we can come back and repay our debt(s). By the way I am a Spiritual Teacher and after more than 25 years of research on the bible and religions that is where I ended up feeling the most comfortable.
Thanks for the question.
God Bless

That's a very interesting subject you just brought up. I'm going to give you a thumbs up for presenting it in such a respectful way.
I need to get some sleep. So, I'm not going to research the sources for this answer. What I will do is give you a link to the people who do have the answers.
Critics have tried to refute the bible on numerous occasions by claiming that the "Supposed" writers were fictional. However, over time, genuine outside historical records have been found that mention various bible writers. Interestingly enough, although Jesus of Nazareth never actually wrote a book, he was mentioned by a well known and recognized Jewish historian who was contemporary to Jesus' lifetime. Since the Jewish religious hierarchy of the time had complete contempt for Christians, it wouldn't make much sense for a Jewish historian to mention him as a real person if he never even existed. Wouldn't you agree?
Here's one that I just love! China is one of the oldest societies on the face of the planet. According to Chinese history, there was a great flood. There were eight survivors. A man named "Yao" and his three sons (and their wives). Yao was apparently the inventor of rice wine, not unlike Noah who started making wine when he left the arch. I'm not sure if Chinese history mentions all of Yao's sons, but the bible says they were Shem, Ham, and Jepheth. One of Yao's sons is mentioned as being the founder of Chinese society is Shin. Granted, it's not a direct correlation, but it's a pretty strong coincidence, wouldn't you say. Obviously there wouldn't be any written records of anyone before that time other than the bible. So, it literally doesn't get any older than that in terms of non-biblical historical records.

The Bible isn't the least bit credible. It's full of contradictions, including contradictions that negate some of its main points. It's been mistranslated, is missing a number of books, and it's been proven that the Gospels almost certainly weren't written by Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. I laugh at people who think they can quote the Bible as proof of anything.

Since its writings are based on faith, then its credibility is subjective. Although many of the people and events have born out as authentic in the scientific community, there is still much of the bible that has not been proven by science.

it's as credible as you want it to be or as uncredible as you want it to be.
As far as the writers are concerned, there is no 100% proof that every book of the Bible was written by who it claims to be written about. And even though I am a Christian, I can not prove as 100% fact that everything or anything in the Bible is as it really happened. But that's where faith comes in.
Though I choose to believe in that faith, and I call myself a Christian, it is important for me to understand that maybe what I believe is wrong. But, that's the beauty of belief, No two people Could EVER believe in exactly 100% the same thing. It is just not possible.
No one ever said any of us were perfect, and anyone who tries to tell you they have all the answers is in fact trying to overstep God. Or for the non-believers, those who claim to know all there is to know about ANY subject, is trying too hard to convince themselves that they are God, thus becoming something they claim not to believe in.

The bible is the scrawlings of a few very superstitious men who lived and died with the fears and prejudices of several thousand years ago.
It is not credible as a document at all.
