I turned 50 2 years ago and I am so different...especially physically.

I hate that!

At what state in life does the average person start "feeling" older?

I am going that route too.

Please IM me if you can...and only IF you know the right questions to ask. to help me get to the bottom of this....

Thank you!

Honestly? Whenever you mentally start believing that you're older. Old age doesn't set in for those who always stay young and active at heart. It's those who say "I'm too old to do this" or "Maybe if I were younger" who get old fastest. If you stay in a positive, alive state of mind. You'll live longest. There are people alive twice your age, and that's certainly a positive thought. Age 50 is an extremely young age. There are people 80 years old still going strong in swimming and athletics. There are 104 year old farmers still cultivating the land. It's about how you eat, and how you think. Keep your meals fresh and healthy. Stay active. Stay thinking positive. You'll see many a more sunrises in your day. And if you stay eating happy, healthy, and positive you'll bet they'll all have their spark back and be as awesome as you could ever imagine. When you do this, you'll truly see why they call them "Golden Years" =).

When? 18. Yep, that's when the first wrinkle starts to show. Well, maybe earlier, 'cause I knew a guy in High School who had lost 1/2 his hair by the 10th grade and was almost bald at graduation.

Now if you are a woman, like me, who also turned 50 2 years ago, and you've hit the menopause wall, then your estrogen levels may have dropped through the floor. This can cause your skin and joints to act old. But there are suppliments these days for all that. Staying away from canned soft drinks helped my joints a great deal.

I always remember what my great-grandmother taught me (she lived to 104 and looked pretty good too):
"The answer to living long is to think young, because if you think you are old you become old and die."

So think young and you will never be old.

Peak bone mass, muscle function, and lung function all occur in your mid 20's. From then on in its a decline.

Doctors start recommending screening tests for all sorts of cancers from the time you turn 50. Indication you've reached an age where enough time for mutations has mounted.

Social security benefits are given to 65 and up.

Out of all the patients I've spoken to though. Age is just a number. There's no definition of old. You are just as old as you feel.

Aging begins at the moment of conception. During the following typical nine months in the womb, the human body experiences aging and growing events it will not experience is such a dramatic fashion as in the womb. It's the most rapid aging time our human bodies experience.

At my 30th high school reunion nearly everyone looked so old and gray. Except for those of us who "think" young, do "young" things, and of course, excercise as if we were young. We are young. The mental/emotional part is vitally important to maintaining a youngful spirit. The other part, is most likely our genetic makeup.

But then again, botox is working to help in the metal area of aging too. I haven't used it yet...but have been thinking about it!

There is no single event that defines the initiation of "old" feeling.
It's a lot of little things, you find that young people know things you never learned, your children start acting maturely, you have more reasons to visit your physician, some things are harder to do, you lose some memories, and so on. at one point in time you start planning for your end, maybe later you start expecting to end.
The right question to ask is - what makes me happy for the remaining time? find out and try to follow it, there are no reruns on life.
