I know Ibuprofen is bad for you long term, but for a few days would it be bad to take as much as 4000mg per day (total)? I'm 6'1 and 235lbs... a big boy.

Im 34 and had one baby tooth left. They pulled it 24 hours ago and the tooth broke apart. They had to go digging for the root. Ouch.

They told me 400mg 3x a day. I'm going 800+mg every 2 hours.

I hurt and it does not seem to be getting better (24 hours).

Is this normal? Should I get different meds?

I do not do pain well as is. My 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once had be on bed on drugs, for 7 days.

Thanks. :-)

4000mg is WAY over any possible recommended dosage. I think you probably already know this. You'd be better off taking a smaller amount of a stronger pain killer. Why not call your doctor?

You really need to call the dentist and go back in, they could have left some of the root in there, could have an infection, or even dry socket. Please tell them that the otc pain relievers are not working and ask them for a prescription for something stronger. You should not be in this much pain for one tooth, even if they had to dig. I had 4 teeth pulled was in some pain, and was back to work in a day and a half. And I'm the biggest chicken around here. God luck hon.

She has a abcess and the dentist gives anti-biotics to get the infection down then pulls the tooth. The infection can be really bad if she has fever and swelling she needs to get meds like now she have a piece of the root left in. I had 4 teeth removed it all sounds normal but fever is a sign its bad. Listen for the blood and pain take a tea bag and put on it. Make sure she changes the gauze alot also sip water not thru a straw it will get the bleeding going again. I took a heating pad to the side of my face it helped not she needs to gargle warm salt water gently. And take Loratab non stop she will be fine.

As an ex dental nurse i don't like the sound of this, you are on a hell of a lot of tablets for 1 thing, and a baby tooth? i don't think so as they don't really have deep roots, that's why they just fall out quite easily most times, plus you are a bit too old for a baby tooth.you could have what is called a dry socket, this just means it may be infected, and you will need some antibiotics,so please go back to your dentist and have it looked at please, hope this helped

Call the dentist and have him see you. You may have developed an infection. The normal pain should have subsided.

Call the dentist and call them quickly! If you are in pain, please get the Dentist attention or go to your local emergency room. You don't want to take the wrong meds and end up worse than you are now. Please get help, I really hate tooth pain!

If you are in such serious pain, your dentist can give you prescription painkillers which are much stronger than your average OTC stuff.
