armegddon is a place in the middle east belive it or not known today as Megiddo was a site of great importance in the ancient world, as it guarded the western branch of a narrow pass and an ancient trade route which connected the lands of Egypt and Assyria. Because of its strategic location at the crossroads of several major routes, Megiddo and its environs have witnessed several major battles throughout history. The site was inhabited from 7000 BC to 500 BC. Modern Megiddo is nearby. The neighboring Mount Megiddo (Hebrew: הר מגידו, Har-Megiddo), gave its name to the Armageddon of the Christian Bible.

Today, Megiddo is an important junction on the main road connecting the center of Israel with lower Galilee and the northern region

so when when john wrote of the battle of Armageddon he was talking of a place

In Heaven and on Earth. Remember, the things in Revelations are symbols, not literal. Says that in the very first sentence. You have to look at the Apostle John's other writings. Revelations was the first book he wrote. Consider this, every Christian religion believes that the signs of the last days started with WWI. Jesus said that the generation living then would not pass away before all those events were complete. That generation, the first generation to live longer than 46 years (average) in almost 2000 years, is now almost 100 years old, and passing away very quickly.

Israel lost the designation of the Holy Land, and its people as God's People, when Christ died, and the curtain covering the Most Holy tore open to reveal that his Holy Spirit not longer resided there. Today's Christians are the new Israelites.

The Armageddon takes place on earth. This bible verse describes about the battle of Armageddon: "Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring --those who obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus" (Revelation 12:17).

In prophecy, a woman represents a church. The verse says that the dragon, which is Satan, got mad against the church and went to declare "war against the rest of her offspring", that is a remnant from the early christian church. The verse gives us a clue about who these people are, thus to identify God's people. They "obey God's commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus" (verse 17). You know the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy: "...Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy" (Revelation 19:10).

God's last church would be given the gift of prophecy, just as it was with Israel, and the early christian church. But you know all this, so let's go to your question. Armageddon battle takes place when Satan gets angry with a group of people who do not fall in his deceptions. They don't worship the beast, either his mark was put upon them. Because these people do not want to accept the mark of the beast, the devil persecutes these people to destroy them.

We conclude, then, that the battle of Armageddon is the cosmic battle between Christ and Satan. The devil persecutes those who do God's will and Christ once more is intervening to protect them.

it is not beyond the realm of possibilities, that mankind might destroy itself. I am sure that if it were to happen, our ever present Bible thumpers will be available to let us know that it is God's will. The only will involved will be that of man, and his incredible stupidity.

In case you folks haven't noticed, the above statement is written in the masculine gender. Why? because in this Bible driven country of ours there is no elegant way of stating important issues in the feminine or neuter gender and make much sense. Isn't it a shame that we are worried over such idiotic trivia as where Armageddon will occur, instead of working towards total worldwide equality and cooperation. Wish us luck, we will need it.

I'm guessing Armageddon! It's a geographical location, near Mt. Carmel, I believe. But it's not gonna happen. So don't hold your breath. No, wait, everyone who believes in the apocalypse as predicted by John of Patmos in his book Revelation, which he wrote while he was high on mushrooms, please hold your breath. Gods know we could do with less of you.

Who's buried in Grant's tomb?

Armegeddon happens in Meggido of course. 30 or so km Northeast of Mt. Carmel and southwest of Jezreel.

Israel.. You have your answers above..
I find it hard to believe that so many can ignore the signs of the times and not think that the end is close.. It is in the news every day and we can't ignore it..

Rev 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
